Ray’s Corner Comes to Jarrow for World Mental Health Day
Sunday 10th of October was World Mental Health Day, so this was the perfect opportunity for us to set up a second Ray’s Corner at our Jarrow Office.
Our Ray’s Corner contains factsheets and self-help guides, as well as information on our employee assistance programme and mental health first aid services.
Ray Bradford’s Positive Legacy
Ray’s Corner was set up by Ray Bradford’s family with the help of Washington Mind, after he took his life in February 2020. The aim is to create a safe space where people can access information and support for themselves or someone they know, using Ray’s name to encourage suicide prevention.
A Conversation Can Make All the Difference
The idea for setting up Ray’s Corner in our offices came from Deb Keirl, our learning and development manager, who has a keen interest in mental health; “I learned about Ray’s Corner during my Suicide Prevention training with Washington Mind,” she says.
“I was really moved by the story of Ray and his family, and how a conversation could have made all the difference to him. I have been a huge advocate of positive mental health for a long time, and I felt it was important to introduce Ray’s Corner to Tritility to encourage our colleagues who were struggling with their own mental health, in particular the men, to talk to someone.”
